Karrie
Evenson is a professional artist from Northwest Arkansas.
She is known for her bright, bold colors and loose, free style of painting. Her
vibrant colors and passion for life really come through in every stroke.
Painting for her is not a thinking process but a feeling process. She believes,
that for her, this is the only way to paint.
While she
primarily works with acrylic paints on canvas, she also enjoys using mixed
mediums to create texture and interest to her work. As an emotional painter,
Karrie uses everyday experiences to tell a story with paint, brush and canvas.
It is her hope to draw the viewer in and allow them to walk away with a sense
of connection to her art. “For me, the only way to paint is by being true to my
self, emotionally and passionately, this allows me to be free and to let go”.
As an
emotional painter, Karrie finds solace when expressing herself with her art.
She refers to it as more of a therapy for her. Painting has helped her to find
peace when she learned that her youngest daughter was
diagnosed with a common neurological disease called Neurofibromatosis. This
disease causes tumors to grow anywhere inside or outside the body along the
nerve endings and there is no cure. “When I am troubled with the not knowing of
what will happen to her and our family, I find peace and feel centered from
painting”, she says. Karrie works with the Children’s Tumor Foundation to help
fight for a cure.
You can
find her work on display at Art Emporium in Fayetteville
and Eureka Springs Fine Art in Eureka Springs and Poor Richard’s Fine Art in Rogers, AR.
She is the host of the television show “Karrie On Canvas” which features
painting how to’s and airs on Jones Television, Channel 22.
